M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N

Newton's first law is:  A thing in motion tends to stay in motion.  A thing at rest tends to stay at rest.

This totally explains why it's so hard to get anything done.  It's the getting started part that is a challenge.  It doesn't matter what your struggle is, cleaning house, relationship problems, worklife messes, spiritual crisis,  or whatever - the resolve is in just getting started on the fix.

Through the wonder of Facebook Chat my sister and I will often engage in a 20 minute challenge for our housecleaning.  We set our timers, declare what our goals are and move like stink to get the challenge completed. It's amazing how much you can accomplish in a mere 20 minutes if you're focused on the task.

When my motivation is really low I'll often only set the timer for 5 minutes and pick a small area to work on.  This will often give me the push to keep going (Newton's Law!).

Check out Youtube for a video of a Newton's Cradle for inspiration.
